ADHD Medicine in Homeopathy: A Natural Approach to Managing Symptoms
If your child is constantly moving, struggling to concentrate, becoming overwhelmed easily or finding it difficult to settle, you may be wondering whether homeopathy has a place in their ADHD support plan.
I’m Shenaz Morkas, founder of Naturepathics and Morkare Natural Clinic. In more than 20 years of working with children and families, I have learnt that two children with the same ADHD diagnosis can present very differently.
One child may be intensely restless and always seeking movement. Another may be sensitive, anxious or easily overwhelmed. A third may struggle most with sleep, emotional outbursts or transitions.
This is why traditional homeopathy does not begin by asking, “Which remedy treats ADHD?” It begins by asking, “How is this particular child experiencing their difficulties?”
Can homeopathy help a child with ADHD?
Homeopathy is sometimes explored as complementary support for children with ADHD. However, there is no single homeopathic remedy suitable for every child, and current scientific evidence does not establish homeopathy as an effective standalone ADHD treatment. Traditional remedy selection considers the child’s individual pattern, including restlessness, sleep, fears, emotional responses and sensitivities. It should not replace ADHD assessment, medication, behavioural care or school support.
What Does ADHD Look Like in Children?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, commonly called ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental condition that may affect attention, activity levels, impulse control, organisation and emotional regulation.
ADHD does not look the same in every child. Some children are noticeably active or impulsive. Others mainly experience difficulties with attention, working memory, organisation or completing tasks.
Attention and Organisation
- Difficulty sustaining attention
- Losing belongings frequently
- Forgetting instructions or tasks
- Difficulty starting or finishing work
Restlessness and Impulsivity
- Constant movement or fidgeting
- Acting before thinking
- Interrupting conversations
- Difficulty waiting for a turn
Emotional Regulation
- Becoming overwhelmed easily
- Strong emotional reactions
- Difficulty coping with frustration
- Sensitivity to changes or demands
Sleep and Daily Life
- Difficulty settling at bedtime
- Struggling with morning routines
- Challenges with transitions
- Difficulties at home or school
These signs do not automatically mean that a child has ADHD. Sleep problems, anxiety, learning difficulties, autism, hearing or vision concerns, trauma and other health or developmental factors can produce overlapping signs. Persistent concerns should be assessed by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
How Is Homeopathy for ADHD Individualised?
In traditional homeopathic practice, a remedy is not selected from the ADHD diagnosis alone. The consultation explores how the child experiences their difficulties and what makes their individual presentation distinctive.
A homeopath may ask about:
Why this matters: a child who is restless, fearful and unable to sleep may have a very different traditional homeopathic picture from a child who is constantly moving, impatient and intensely driven to stay occupied.
What Is the Best Homeopathic Medicine for ADHD?
There is no single “best homeopathic medicine for ADHD.” Traditional homeopathy is based on individual remedy differentiation rather than matching one remedy to a medical diagnosis.
Remedies such as Stramonium, Tarentula hispanica, Coffea cruda, Baryta carbonica, Cina and Iodum may appear in traditional homeopathic literature alongside particular behavioural, emotional or sleep patterns. This does not mean that they are proven ADHD treatments or that every restless child needs one of these remedies.
The right pathway depends on whether the family needs general support for calmness and settling or an individual homeopathic assessment of the child’s complete presentation.
Homeopathic Products and Traditional Remedy Profiles
These options have different purposes. Calm & Balanced is a practitioner-formulated combination for general emotional and nervous tension support. Stramonium and Tarentula hispanica are individual remedies with more specific traditional pictures.
Calm & Balanced
Calm & Balanced is a Naturepathics practitioner-formulated blend for general support during periods of nervous tension, emotional overwhelm, restlessness and difficulty settling.
It is not an ADHD treatment and does not replace an individually selected constitutional remedy or your child’s existing healthcare.

In traditional homeopathic practice, Stramonium may be considered when the overall picture includes intense fears, agitation, sudden emotional reactions, fear of darkness or a strong need for reassurance.

Tarentula is traditionally associated with pronounced restlessness, rapid movement, impatience, intensity and a strong desire to remain active or occupied. Music, rhythm and constant motion may form part of its traditional remedy picture.

Can Homeopathy Be Used With ADHD Medication?
Parents should tell their child’s healthcare professionals about every medicine, supplement and complementary product being used.
Never stop, reduce or change prescribed ADHD medication without guidance from the clinician responsible for prescribing it. Complementary support works best when it is communicated openly and coordinated with the child’s existing care.
An individual ADHD support plan may include:
- Medical and developmental assessment
- Education and family support
- Behavioural or psychological strategies
- School adjustments and learning support
- Sleep, nutrition and routine support
- Medication when clinically appropriate
- Complementary care discussed with the treating team
Homeopathy at Naturepathics and Morkare is offered as complementary care. It does not replace your child’s GP, paediatrician, psychiatrist, psychologist or prescribing clinician.
When Should You Book an Appointment With Shenaz?
A product page can help you understand a traditional remedy picture, but it cannot determine whether that remedy matches your child.
I take time to listen to the whole story. We look beyond one behaviour and explore your child’s sleep, sensitivities, fears, emotional responses, physical health, existing diagnoses and the challenges affecting your family most.
My goal is to give parents a thoughtful, realistic plan while respecting the important role of their child’s medical, developmental and school support teams.

Homeopathy for ADHD FAQs
Can homeopathy help a child with ADHD?
Some families explore homeopathy as complementary support. Current scientific evidence does not establish homeopathy as an effective treatment for ADHD, so it should not replace assessment, prescribed medication, behavioural care or school support.
What is the best homeopathic medicine for ADHD?
There is no single best remedy for every child. Traditional homeopaths consider the child’s complete pattern, including restlessness, sleep, fears, sensitivities and emotional responses, rather than choosing a remedy from the diagnosis alone.
Which remedies are traditionally considered for ADHD-type presentations?
Traditional literature may discuss remedies such as Stramonium, Tarentula hispanica, Coffea cruda, Cina, Baryta carbonica and Iodum alongside particular patterns. These profiles do not establish the remedies as ADHD treatments or indicate which remedy is appropriate for an individual child.
How does a homeopath differentiate Stramonium and Tarentula?
Stramonium is traditionally associated with intense fears, agitation and a need for reassurance. Tarentula is traditionally associated with rapid activity, pronounced restlessness, impatience and a strong need for movement. An appointment is needed to assess the complete picture.
Is Calm & Balanced an ADHD treatment?
No. Calm & Balanced is a practitioner-formulated Naturepathics product for general support during nervous tension, emotional overwhelm, restlessness and difficulty settling. It is not presented as a treatment for ADHD.
Can my child use homeopathy with ADHD medication?
Discuss all complementary products with your child’s prescribing clinician and pharmacist. Never stop, reduce or alter prescribed ADHD medication without the prescriber’s guidance.
Is homeopathy safe for children?
Safety depends on the product, ingredients, preparation and how it is used. Homeopathic products should not delay assessment or replace necessary medical care. Parents should disclose all complementary products to their child’s healthcare team.
Does my child need an ADHD diagnosis before seeing Shenaz?
A formal diagnosis is not required to discuss general concerns with Shenaz. However, homeopathy appointments do not diagnose ADHD or replace a formal assessment. Your GP can help you find the appropriate assessment pathway.
Can we book with Shenaz outside Brisbane?
Yes. In-clinic appointments are available at Morkare Natural Clinic in Holland Park West, Brisbane. Telehealth appointments are also available to families across Australia.
Can sleep or health concerns look like ADHD?
Sleep problems, anxiety, learning difficulties, hearing or vision concerns and other developmental or health factors can overlap with ADHD signs. Persistent concerns deserve assessment by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Who can assess my child for ADHD?
ADHD assessment should be completed by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals. Your GP can discuss your concerns and help you identify the suitable assessment pathway in your Australian state or territory.
